Why are there so many different names for each version of a MAC Operating System?
MAC Operating Systems are normally refered to with a version number, such as Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X.
Within the major version number, Mac has named their sub-releases.
As an example, the named sub-releases for the Mac OS X versions are; | Public Beta | Kodiak |
| v10.0 | Cheetah |
| v10.1 | Puma |
| v10.2 | Jaguar |
| v10.3 | Panther |
| v10.4 | Tiger |
| v10.5 | Leopard |
| v10.6 | Snow Leopard |
